Daddy Kenny and I have been planning a very special trip for the last year-and-a-half. In the spirit of fun and celebration (officially 6 year together) we had decided to do something amazing together and also start trying for our second baby on the same trip. After doing a lot of research into the best cruise lines (especially when it comes to quality food) we picked the 10-day Mediterranean Celebrity Equinox departing from Rome, Italy. When we arrived in Rome we found out our bags did not make it! In fact, it wasn’t until three days later in Malta when our bags were finally delivered to us on the ship. Not to worry! The Equinox staff really spoiled us. We had champagne delivered to our stateroom three times during our stay and beautiful hor d’oeuvres and chocolates to our room every evening before dinner. Because we knew our culinary experience would be a big part of our trip we chose to pay a little extra to be a part of the AquaClass–which meant we not only had access to the specialty restaurant Blu everyday (Ahhhh-mazing) but also access to the spa AND a gorgeous veranda room. I think we must have spend a lifetime enjoying the herbal steam room each morning.
Okay, so yes. The ship was amazing. What about the sites? We visited Taormina, Sicily, Malta, Rhodes, Athens, Pompeii…. and now I am blanking out on all the other places. There were so many! I remember one day we just got off the ship in Greece (somewhere??) and walked for hours. It was fun to see how people lived and enjoy all the tangerines growing EVERYWHERE.
Our favorite place was Rome where we spent a final day. The food and culture were unlike anything we’ve ever experienced. We had made some friends on our ship who also had a final day in Rome. It was fantastic to enjoy little caffe’s, good food and fellowship. : )
